Architectural Indexes

Jorge Orozco is an architect and researcher based in the CAAD group at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology’s Department of Architecture in Zurich. His research interest is in the overlapping between Information and Communications Technology and architecture. He is fascinated with the new abilities that traditional objects gain by becoming computational objects on-line; he looks at this phenomenon with an architectonic vision.

Jorge currently carries a PhD research project at the Chair for CAAD entitled Architectural Indexes, where he places a number of today’s ICT applications next to prominent articulations of architecture of the 20c, so to render apparent a scenario where architectural objects-subjects are indexically characterised and capable to have pre-specific talks. In this scenario, Jorge engenders computational objects that operate communities on the web, content-sharing platforms, dashboards, timelines, data-streams, with which traditional architectural objects can be re-articulated free from specification, as pre-specific.

Jorge holds a Master of Advanced Studies degree in Computer Aided Architectural Design from ETH Zurich, and a Master in Advanced Architecture degree with specialization in Digital Tectonics from IAAC, Barcelona. He graduated from Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo’s Faculty of Architecture, Mexico.
